With all The hype surrounding the fortHcoming jubileE commemorations we were tempted to go with a
royaL tinged film. However, we have chosen something unusUal aNd Completely different! THis film provides
a fascinating insight into another culture and those leading very different lives to ours. Set in downtown
MumBai it tells the tale Of a culinary miX-up. But can a mix-up change everything? Come along and find out.
There will be a chance to socialise with friends old and new, a talk about the film, a quiz (just for fun) and of
course drinks available from our newly refurbished bar and even an ice cream break.
See you thereÂ…..Jan Stanyon EVHA chair

An Evening for Ukraine
0
St. Mary's Church -
Elham Friends of St. Mary's Church
Elham Come and find out about all things Ukrainian.
The country , the people and their flight to safety in Europe.
Find out how the Elham Valley Ukraine Support Group is helping to support the hosts and their
guests. Listen to a prominent Ukrainian journalist, now living in Elham, and hear the stories of other
recently arrived Ukrainians. Hear about the camper van journey-with a Ukrainian cat in tow from a
couple of brave locals. There will be plenty of time for all your questions and discussions on how you
may be able to help, support and even become hosts. The evening will end with a beautiful piano recital
from accomplished Ukrainian pianist who is also a recent guest.
You will be welcomed with tea, coffee and cakes.

Jubilee Celebrations
0
Village Hall -
Elham Village Hall Association
Come along to Elham Village Hall and grounds for this 'once in a lifetime event' to commemorate the Queens Platinum Jubilee. The day is generously being funded by the parish council
and it is our intention to make this a free event (except for alcohol) and everyone is welcome!
We?ve all had a rough couple of years so this is a chance to get together for this happy occasion. If the weather is good (fingers crossed) most of the activities will be in the grounds with
dancing taking place in the hall in the evening.
The general idea is that you come along with your savory picnics but don?t include anything
sweet. There will be activities for old and young- including 'horsey racing' as it is one of Her
majesty's favourite pastimes! There will be plenty of cakes, scones, ice creams etc. In the late
afternoon we will light the BBQ which will then run for the rest of the evening. Elham's own
Dissentanglers will be playing live so expect plenty of dancing and frivolity!
Details of specific timings will be published in the Elham Village Hall Newsletter nearer the
time but, as this will be a monumental task to undertake, we could do with some help!
We need volunteers to: Help set up on Friday 3rd June
Make cake/ scones
Help at the BBQ
Help with the games/activities
Serve food
Generally be useful.
I'm sure we will needs lots of bits and pieces along the way and we'll be putting a plea out to
you all in the weeks ahead but, for now, if you think you can spare a couple of hours to do a
'stint' it will make all the difference to the
success of the day.
Please contact Jan
(stanyonjan@aol.com) with your offers of
help. Let's make this an event that we will
all remember for a long time.

Summer Food & Craft Festival

The Square -
Elham Farmers' Market
Our Summer Food and Craft Festival is on from 11am – 2pm on Sunday, 12 June, and coincides with Elham Open Gardens weekend so there will be lots going on the village for every family to enjoy.
The Church Bellringers will open the market with their usual flair and the Chancel café will be serving delicious soups, sandwiches and hot and cold drinks. Our traders will be selling pretty garden plants, game and smoked fish, pies and tarts, summer fruits and juices, jams and chutneys, tasty vegan and vegetarian bites, flavoured butters and pulled pork sandwiches, as well as beautiful handmade crafts and gorgeous gifts.
We already have some fabulous prizes for our raffle, so hereÂ’s hoping for a lovely, sunny weekend. In the meantime, if you would like a stall in the summer, please email julie.woodgate@yahoo.co.uk.
We hope to see you there!

Village Hall -

Many thanks to all who
attended the meetings for
the Elham Community
Shed on 14th March and
22nd April.
There seems to be an enthusiasm in the village
for this to go ahead. As part of the realisation
of planning you are invited to a
BBQ at the village hall on Friday
17th June at 7.00pm
where we can chat, have a drink, but also actually get our first practical activity ... an 'Elham
Community (not-yet-in-a-Shed) project underway... a raised bed for the Pre-School and their
shed base preparation.
If you are willing to take on or help with responsibilities in this project please contact me.
Otherwise, we look forward to seeing you on 17th June, 7.00pm.
