Methodist Church, Elham
The main building is dated 1839, it has a stucco front with four Doric pilasters and
surmounted by a pediment.
It has a high central doorway with moulded surround, fine, panelled double doors,
approached by two-way steps.
The Old Chapel and Chapel Cottage
This is an interesting 18th.century building that must have been erected during Wesley's
lifetime. It still contains it's small gallery over the entrance vestibule and three of
it's original pews.
In front of this building are four graves, with inscriptions of Elham stalwarts of the early 19th. century who refused to pay the church rate, and elected to be buried here. Chapel cottage, on the right of this building may have been the original manse.
